While many heaved a sigh of relief at the sight of welcome, cool showers in the national Capital on Tuesday, for those who were stuck on the waterlogged roads, the day was nothing short of a nightmare. To add to the misery of commuters near the Moolchand underpass, a fuel tanker overturned and the oil spilled on the road. The entire stretch became a safety hazard and had to be cordoned off.

The tanker carrying the aviation turbine fuel overturned at 5am due to the road being wet and as much as 4,000 litres of oil spilled. The driver and his associate sustained injuries in the mishap. The truck had a capacity of 20,000 litres, of which around 4,000 litres had spilled.

Pona Dey, a commuter, said: "I was stuck in Mehrauli due to waterlogging. I was moving towards my office in Okhla. It was really difficult to commute in such a situation."

Traffic movement on the Ring Road, MG Road, and ISBT Road was also affected due to the waterlogging and pot holes. There was obstruction of traffic from Nehru Place to Modi Mill, from Khanpur to Hamdard Nagar, from Mayapuri to Rajouri Garden, and from Wazirabad to Majnu Ka Tila.
