Fifteen-year-old Mohammad Hazim was yet to pack his bags for a long vacation in India after his CBSE Class X boards exams ended on Wednesday, when he got to know about the re-examination on account of the alleged paper leak. Heartbroken by the development, Hazim and his parents, who live in Bahrain, are now mulling to cancel their trip to India. Hazim studies at the Indian School in Isa Town of Bahrain under the CBSE.

"We had our tickets for Thursday. We are thinking either to cancel the trip or to cut it short and come back as soon as possible as the re-exam date is announced," said Hazim's father Mohammad Abuzar.

The CBSE announced to reconduct examination for Class X Mathematics and Class XII Economics papers over the reports of the alleged paper leak on Wednesday. The board will give the date for the retest on its website within a week. The announcement sent the CBSE students and their parents into a tizzy with those residing outside the country saying re-examination is "meaningless" for them.

"Students and parents have been calling frantically to their contacts in India for information after the CBSE decision. There was no need to cancel exams here anyway. They provide a different set of papers to us. Many of our students have to appear for entrance exams in India or other countries in the coming week. It's a complete chaos," said Faiz Mohammad, Manager at Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School in Bahrain. Shankar Singh, an auto-driver, whose daughter has a "phobia" for Mathematics, said she was stressed about studying everything again.

Even the Class XII students, who will have to re-appear in the Economics paper, termed the move as an "unwanted burden".

MOVE WELCOMED

Some students and parents welcomed the move saying only re-examination can do justice with those who have not received any of WhatsApp leaks.
