A 16-year old boy died while his friend was injured when a speeding truck rammed their bike in Badalpur area of Greater Noida on Tuesday morning. The two were on their way to appear in their Class 10th board exams.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Anuj Singh (16), a native of Chhaprola village in Badalpur, who was heading towards the examination centre with his friend Prince, when a speeding truck mowed him down and injured his friend. Singh was riding his bike.
"The incident took place at around 6:30 am, when Singh was on his way to appear for the board examinations in Badalpur's government school, with his friend Prince. They were hit by a speeding truck from behind at the GT Road near Chhaprola village. The truck driver managed to flee the spot after mowing down the boy," said Mukesh Kumar, station house officer, Badalpur police station.
After the police reached the spot, they rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where Singh was declared brought dead on arrival. Aggrieved villagers blocked the GT Road for an hour, demanding the arrest of the accused driver. The protest resulted in traffic congestion at the GT Road joining Bulandshahr to Greater Noida.
"Police have registered a case against unknown person under sections 304 (A) and 279 of the Indian Penal Code for causing death due to negligence and rash driving. We assured them that the driver of the speeding truck will be nabbed soon. After some time, the traffic was normal," Kumar added.

This is the second road accident in the last fortnight in Gautam Budh Nagar where a student lost his life while on way to the exam centre after being mowed down by a vehicle.
