Store owner beaten to death in Gautam Nagar

Police said that the killing first came to light when Sudhir Gupta, son of the deceased, found his father, Hari Om Gupta, lying unconscious with head injuries inside the store.

A 50-year-old departmental store owner in Gautam Nagar, Delhi was bludgeoned to death inside his store late evening on Thursday. Police said that the killing first came to light when Sudhir Gupta, son of the deceased, found his father, Hari Om Gupta, lying unconscious with head injuries inside the store.

An initial probe revealed that the valuables were not found missing and suspect personal enmity. "A PCR call was received around 11:40 pm on Thursday that a man's body is found lying in his shop. The injured was shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre where a doctor declared him brought dead," said Additional DCP Chinnor Bisham.

He added that a case of murder has been registered at Hauz Khas police station. "Inspection of the scene indicates a friendly entry. No cash or valuables were found missing. A huge amount of cash was found intact in the store cash. An Insider angle is also being probed," Biswal said.

Police are also checking CCTV footage of the area to see who had gained entry into the store. A crime and forensic team also visited the spot to collect evidence. Police said that the murder is being probed from all possible angles and Gupta's phone records are also being analysed.
