A 27-year-old criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police from East Delhi's Patrparganj area.

The accused has been identified as Saddam Hussain. Sleuths of Special Cell raided several places in Sambhal, Chandausi, and Moradabad to arrest him. Hussain hails from Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh.

Pramod Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, said that they had received a tip-off that Hussain would be near Max Hospital in Patparganj area on Monday night around 10:30 pm.

A trap was laid and he was arrested from the vicinity of National Victor Public School.

"During interrogation, it was found that he was involved in a Gajraula murder case in Uttar Pradesh in July 2015, where he killed Santosh Diwakar of Kanpur with the help of his associates," said Kushwah.

The police said Santosh Diwakar was killed by Hussain with the help of his associates. As per the plan, a girl identified as Isha called her boyfriend Diwakar to come and meet her at Gajraula. Diwakar came to meet her while she along with her other boyfriend Iftikar and his associates including Hussain, Saalim and Faisal shot dead Santosh Diwakar. Hussain was arrested earlier but was granted bail. He was also involved in a case of car theft in west delhi's Janakpuri area.
