Akshay was arrested after a 150 kilometer long chase which started from Himachal Pradesh's Kalka area and ended at National Highway-1 near Bilaspur road.
In what looked like a scene of Bollywood movie, the special cell of Delhi Police arrested an accused in various cases of murder and attempt to murder. The accused identified as Akshay Dagar alias Shakti was arrested after a 150 kilometer long chase in Himachal Pradesh. Dagar who is an engineer has been has been involved in cases of murder and arms act ever since he left college in 2015.
In May, Dagar along with an other associate had murdered two members of the rival gang in broad day light, when the victims were going towards Dwarka court for a case hearing. It was revealed that Rajiv alias Monu who was another accused in the double murder had a property dispute with his former friend Sandeep alias Mental, who allegedly had threatened Monu to kill him and his family.
In response, Monu and Dagar opened fire on Sandeep and his partner Pawan while they were going towards Dwarka court for their hearing. Since then Dagar had been on run while another accused Monu was arrested in June. A reward of Rs 50,000 was also announced on the arrest of Akshay by the commissioner of police.
However on Thursday, Akshay was arrested after a 150 kilometer long chase which started from Himachal Pradesh's Kalka area and ended at National Highway-1 near Bilaspur road.
"We had information that the accused would pass from Kalka, so a team was deployed at the check post, however after one day when a silver car came towards check post, the officials tried stopping it but instead the driver started driving faster," said Deputy commissioner of Police, Special cell, Sandeep Yadav.
The special cell was although prepared for a chase and a stand by team in Delhi was called to come from opposite direction, to make sure that the accused is trapped between both the teams. The efforts bore fruits and Akshay's car was intercepted at National highway.
"Both the team's coordination helped us get the accused, he was brought back to Delhi and interrogation was started," added Yadav.
The police team had recovered one country made pistol along with two cartridges from his possession. While his involvement in other cases is being probed.
