Some relief from heat wave imminent: IMD

The unrelenting heat wave in parts of North, Northwest and Central India is about to temper down a little in the coming weeks owing to winds, and the conditions are also becoming favourable for an advance of the southwest monsoon over theAndaman Sea in the coming week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. In its 'extended range outlook', the IMD has indicated that the monsoon is on course as of now and along with Andaman Sea, it will also advance over parts of southeast Bay of Bengal by May 15. The southwest monsoon usually arrives on June 1 in Kerala.

Along with forecast on monsoon's progress, IMD has said that there is "very less possibility" of heat wave conditions over any part of the country between May 11 and May 17. But, average maximum temperatures in this period would still be more than 40 degree Celsius in central India and Vidarbha.
