Sixth accused in Ghaziabad TV journalist's attack, held

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Bablu, who was driving the car in which the miscreants managed to flee the spot after shooting at the journalist, was arrested following a tip-off.

The Ghaziabad police have arrested the sixth person accused of attacking TV journalist Anuj Chowdhary on April 8, from Kavi Nagar area on Wednesday night. The police said that the accused helped his assailants to flee the spot.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Bablu, who was driving the car in which the miscreants managed to flee the spot after shooting at the journalist, was arrested following a tip-off.

"We had received a tip-off about Bablu hiding at Kavi Nagar area. So we had formed teams and raided the location provided by our informer. We managed to arrest him from one of his whereabouts," said Vaibhav Krishan, Senior Superintendent Of Police (Ghaziabad).

The police said that Bablu is the younger brother of the former councillor and criminal Shekhar Chaudhary who had planned the conspiracy to kill Anuj from Dasna jail.

On April 17, the Ghaziabad Police had arrested five assailants involved in the shooting of Anuj Choudhary outside his residence. One of the accused, who is a sharp-shooter and contractual killer, was arrested after an encounter in the Sihani area. The police said Shekhar and Anuj have had a two-and-half-decade-old family enmity during which three persons have been murdered and there are few recorded attempts to murder, also. Anuj's elder brother Musa alias Sansarpal Singh was shot dead in 1993 by Shekhar.
