Signature Bridge ruckus: Three cases filed by Delhi Police

The Delhi Police on Tuesday registered three cases, including one against the ruling AAP's MLA Amanatullah Khan, in connection with the ruckus at the inaugural function of Signature Bridge.

The cases have been referred to the Crime Branch of Delhi Police for investigation.

Three cases have been registered at New Usmanpur police station under North East district in connection with the incidents during the inauguration of the Signature Bridge, Delhi Police said in a statement.

The cases have been registered on complaints of Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, his colleague B N Jha and an an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker Taukir, it said.

Delhi Bharatiya Janta Party president Manoj Tiwari filed a police complaint on Tuesday against the chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan and several unknown persons who had allegedly misbehaved with him during the inauguration of the Signature Bridge on Sunday.

On Sunday, during the inauguration Tiwari had barged into the event where he was allegedly pushed by 
Khan while trying to get on the stage.

A video of the incident went viral in which Tiwari was standing near the stage when Khan who was on the stage pushed him during the event.

Tiwari has claimed that the entire incident took place in front of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal so he has filed an FIR in the incident. He had alleged that he was stopped by the police and AAP supporters from attending the event.

Meanwhile AAP Rajya Sabha leader Sanjay Singh has written a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner on BJP violence at Signature Bridge and in action by police in the matter.

In the letter written to Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik, Singh has demanded that it register a case against Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari for misbehaving and trying beat police officials on-duty at the event. Singh has also raised questions on the police as to why no case was registered against Tiwari 48 hours after the incident alleging that the police work under tremendous political pressure.
