Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare had an unexpected visitor on Saturday. A 11-year-old boy Rajesh alias Krishna, who has been suffering from hemangioma since birth, wanted to meet his idol, Hazare. However, citing Anna’s poor health, his core team refused to arrange a meeting between the two.

Krishna’s father Lal Singh (37) is an autorickshaw driver, but in 2011 he had joined the India Against Corruption movement. Krishna was just four years old then, but he had accompanied his father daily to the Ramlila Maidan.
“Krishna has been a fighter since birth, he fought against corruption in 2011 and today he is fighting against that and his disease,” Singh said.

Hemangioma is a benign growth made up of an abnormally dense collection of blood vessels over the skin, causing acute pain combined with occasional bleeding. Krishna was being treated at AIIMS for about eight years when the doctors referred him to Safdarjung Hospital, where his parents were told that Krishna will need a surgery after every year. Since then, the boy has been operated six times at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. But the expenses have pushed the family into a debt trap.

With the birth of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Krishna’s father had joined it and worked with leaders such as Manish Sisodia, as the latter had promised him to provide government help once AAP comes into power. But Lal Singh alleges that all AAP leaders have now blocked his mobile number.

Despite the hardships, the boy has always wanted to meet his idol. But, on Saturday, the request of the family was rejected after Anna was advised to take rest by his doctor.
