In another case of suicide in the city, a 25-year-old woman was found hanging from a tree in a park in front of Tarapore Enclave, Vasant Kunj, on Sunday. The woman, a resident of Jharkhand, had left home after she had an argument with her husband on Saturday night. The victim has two children, aged 8 and 4. The cause of the death is yet to be ascertained, police said.

Phool Mani Devi had come to Delhi in 2006, and had been staying with one Chand Uran since 2008. According to police, the duo got married after their second child was born. Police, who denied any foul play into the incident, suggested that the woman may have slipped depression.

"Cases of suicides have not increased much, but more reports are coming in. The main reason for the suicide is the psychiatry disorder caused by depression. Depression is the most underdiagnosed and undertreated illness even today," said Dr Om Prakash, Senior Psychiatrist, IHBAS. "There are severe stages of depression and mostly in case if a suicide, instead of just focusing on the causes of depression, it is absolutely necessary to explore the background," he added.
