About three months ago, two workers lost their lives at New Delhi's posh hotel Taj Vivanta while they along with three other workers had gone to clean up a sewage treatment plant of the same hotel.

While two of them lost their lives due to the toxic gases, three others were saved after a lot of efforts by doctors. Although the hotel provided a compensation to the families, the government is still making the families run pillar to pillar. One of the deceased, Ravinder's wife who is suffering from throat cancer and TB, is left with two daughters and no earning member in the family.

The two daughters Shilpa and Neha still visit East SDM's office in Jamnagar in the national Capital to claim a compensation announced by the government. They, however, come back empty-handed every time as the officials in office reject their plea stating that if they have received compensation from the hotel then why do they need compensation from the government.

"Our father worked as an accountant with a petrol pump in Rashtrapati Bhawan for over 27 years but two years ago, the then president ordered to built a museum on the site and he was left jobless," said Shilpa Kanojia, the elder daughter, who is pursuing graduation from DU.
