At least seven wanted criminals were arrested by police in two different encounters in Greater Noida on Monday. The police said that a constable of crime branch also sustained bullet injuries in one of the incidents.

In first incident, the police shot at three accused around 1:12 am near Pakshi Vihar colony in the Surajpur area of Greater Noida on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
"We received information on the police control room that three criminals are trying to flee on a motorcycle after committing a robbery at an HDFC bank ATM in village Dewla. A police team was pressed into action and during the chase, the criminals opened gunfire on the police. We fired back in retaliation and the bullet hit two criminals in the leg. However, one of the accomplices managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of the dark" said Pankaj Rai, station house officer, Surajpur police station.
Vikram and Bhola, natives of Khurja area in Bulandshahr district, were arrested by the police. The criminal who managed to flee the spot was identified as Akash, said police.
"Upon interrogating the arrested men confessed to having come here to commit the ATM robbery. A case under IPC sections 511, 427, 461 and other relevant sections have been registered against them. We are conducting search operations at various suspected locations to nab their partner who fled the spot" Rai added.
Two illegal .315 mm pistol, three cases of live ammunition and tools used to cut the ATM machine were seized from the possession of the criminals, said the police.
In another encounter, the Bisrakh police arrested five persons after they allegedly fired at the police party at Khairpur roundabout after the crime branch had got secret information about the five people robbing passengers in their car by offering them lift. During the encounter, two accused and constable Narender Singh posted at crime branch Bisrakh were injured.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Anil Kumar, Arjun Verma, Jitender Verma, Premkumar Verma and Nazruddin. Anil and Arjun have received bullet injuries and are being treated at the district hospital.
The police have recovered four country-made pistols of .315 bore from their possession.
