The SDMC on Friday sealed 12 properties in posh commercial areas of South Delhi for allegedly putting up illegal hoardings on their roof tops.
"The Building Department, Central Zone, SDMC has launched major sealing action against such illegal structures and in the last few days sealing action has been taken against properties in areas like Defence Colony, New Delhi South Extension, Lajpat Nagar," the SDMC said. "These were hoardings were removed by the SDMC many a times but the advertising agencies erected these hoardings again and again by providing huge irons," it said.
The South Delhi Municipal Coporation in its Central Zone has demolished or removed a total number of 203 illegal hoardings from the roof-top of the buildings in recent time.
Apart from this, from August onwards, demolition action has been taken against 37 properties, 28 properties have been sealed which include unauthorised construction, land misuse and erection of illegal cell towers, the SDMC said. "The Building Department, Central Zone is planning to take further major demolition/sealing drive against unauthorised construction and the misuse as well, who have not paid the requisite conversion charges to the SDMC so far," it added.
