In a high-voltage drama over the Rajya Sabha polls, witnessed outside Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Friday, Kalavati Koli, the mother of late Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Santosh Koli, launched a sit-in and demanded a party ticket for herself. The Delhi police later detained her.

Alleging that Kejriwal denied her a ticket for the Rajya Sabha seat because she was a Dalit, Kalavati said: "He gave tickets to Guptas and I am a Dalit. He stayed at my place, ate in my plate. Was I not a Dalit at that time? Why this discrimination now?" she said. The election to the Rajya Sabha will be held on January 16 and Friday was the last day for filing nomination. "Today, he is not allowing me to enter his house even as he launched a campaign on my daughter's death," she said.

Santosh had died in a road accident in 2013. On Thursday, estranged AAP MLA Kapil Mishra campaigned for Kalavati's nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat.
