Family members of the deceased boutique owner Mala Lakhani, who was stabbed to death along with her servant, say that they knew about that the monitory issue between Rahul Anwar and Lakhani. However, it was a mere Rs 50 dispute over cloth and not the non-payment of the monthly salary as earlier confessed by the tailor, they claim.

"We do not agree that non-payment of salaries by Lakhani could be a bone of contention between her and Anwar. I was aware about the monetary dispute between them as she had discussed it. Anwar wanted extra money for every cloth he stitched. He wanted some Rs 50 extra per piece for stitching," said Aarti Sharma, Lakhani's sister standing outside the Safdarjung Hospital's mortuary.

She further said that since it was a mere amount, she had thought that it would be sorted soon. "Anwar earned Rs 1,500 to 2,000 every day. We never thought that they would hatch a conspiracy to kill her over this. We did not know that the person she claimed to be her son would end up murdering her with such brutality," Sharma said.

Just 30 minutes before she was brutally stabbed to death she had spoken to Sharma and her daughter over the phone.

"We were discussing Big Boss and later she said she would call me back after watching the episode. Later, we got a call from the police informing us about the murder," Sharma added.

On November 14, Mala Lakhani (53) and Kishan Bahadur (50) were murdered by Rahul Anwar (24) and his two associates Wasim (26) and Rehmat (20), at her tailoring workshop built next to her house in Vasant Kunj Enclave. Police said that accused ransacked and looted the house but after two hours they reached the police station and surrendered.

"She was very conscious about her looks and appearance and look what they did to her. Mala's face has also been stabbed so that she is not recognised. Police have informed that both the bodies have 18 stab wounds," said Sharma.
