Coming out in support of Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, who has courted controversy over her remarks at a rally in Delhi, the Delhi BJP on Friday accused opposition parties of engaging in a politically motivated "conspiracy" against the minister as she is a new challenge for them.

Poorvanchal cell of the party on Friday announced that if opposition parties continue to protest against Jyoti, they would stage demonstration outside their leaders' offices in the national capital.

Dinesh Pratap Singh, president of Poorvanchal Cell, said, "Conspiracy against the Union Minister Jyoti by the opposition parties in Parliament is politically motivated. In the name of backward classes politics, Congress, Samajwadi Party, Janata Dal are doing this as Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti is a new challenge before them."

Singh said that as Jyoti has already expressed regret, the matter should be considered closed, and warned that if MPs of Congress, Samajwadi Party and Janata Dal continue to protest in Parliament, we will start staging protest outside their offices in the national capital.

The Minister of State for Food Processing had stoked a controversy by allegedly asking voters to elect sons of Lord Ram and not "illegitimate sons" at a BJP rally in Dwarka on Monday evening, leaving the party and the government embarrassed. She has expressed "deep regret" and apologised for her actions.

According to the party, there have been no rallies of any MP held in the national capital, as they had to visit constituencies in the weekend.

"From Monday, BJP MPs will start holding public rallies across the national capital," another party leader said.
