Ryan murder: Cops quiz official as to whether safety norms were followed

The northern zone group of Ryan International School Francis Thomas was remanded to three days police custody by the Sohna court on Wednesday. Thomas, who was arrested on Sunday will be taken by police to Mumbai, where the group's headquarters is situated. Here, it will be seen as to whether action was taken on proposals he had suggested, as to the safety and security for schools, was acted upon.

Thomas was arrested along with Jeyus Thomas, the head of human resources for the school.

Thomas had told police officials he had sent the proposals related to security and safety, fire measures and various other measure to the schools' Mumbai headquarters in January this year. As a result, the Gurugram police told the court that around three proposals were sent. The police also told the court that they needed to see if these proposals were enacted upon and the budget for the same was allotted for not.

For this they said, they needed to scan the account details of the school management in order to see if the the safety norms were being carried out or not.

Senior officers also stated that Thomas had told them that he had not put any safety proposals on hold and once he received them from the school, he had forwarded all of them to Mumbai. They added that Thomas kept insisting that he was not at fault and that the murder was an "unfortunate incident."

Until now, the Gurugram Police have recovered around 200 pages of documents including a five-page document on safety of school children, four pages on safety norms, three pages on fire safety equipment along with 39 pages on the road safety of school. A further probe will determine if the proposals were enacted upon and the money was sanctioned for the same.
