A 24-year-old engineering student was stabbed to death by four men following a robbery bid, which he resisted, at a secluded park near Tughlakabad area in southeast Delhi on Saturday evening.
Police arrested three suspects, while the fourth suspect is still absconding.
The deceased was identified as Naresh Kumar Dadar, a resident of Trilokpuri in Delhi. It was around 9 pm when Kumar got a call from a female friend, asking him to meet her at a DDA park near Tughlakabad, according to the police.
"They were sitting in the park when four men approached them. They asked the two of them to hand over their valuables. While the woman handed over her phone, Kumar resisted and tried to raise an alarm. They thrashed him and stabbed him multiple times on his chest, hands and abdomen," police said.
The assailants fled from the spot after Naresh collapsed on the ground. The woman called for help and took Naresh to Batra hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. His family members was informed and a case of murder was registered at the Govindpuri Police Station.
Chinmoy Biswal, DCP southeast, Delhi Police, said that 15 teams are working on the case and that the accused will be arrested soon. "We have formed many teams and all of them are frequently raiding possible hideouts of the assailants. We have got possible leads and the accused will soon be arrested. Forensics and crime teams were sent to the crime spot and they have collected evidences. A case of murder and under other relevant Sections has been registered at the Govindpuri Police Station," Biswal added.
