A Delhi University student was allegedly beaten up after he asked the driver of the car to move aside so that he could pass by. The incident was reported from North-West Delhi's Bharat Nagar area on May 18.

The family members of the boy alleged that the police officials were trying to hush up the matter by not including stringent sections in the FIR.

The victim Harshit alias Vasu (18), a resident of Ashok Vihar area, said that on Friday evening he had gone for his tuition classes to the Sawan Park area. "After finishing my tuitions I was on my way back home on my two-wheeler when I saw a car being driven by a woman coming from the opposite side in Ravidas lane. Another car also came and stopped in front of the previous car and there was no space to move. The woman was reversing her car and I was trying to move my scooter as well," said Harshit. He said that the woman shouted at him and asked him why he was trying to get his scooter in the way.

Another man identified as Khem Singh who was standing there also shouted at him and asked him to mend his ways while talking to a woman. "When I retaliated, he started thrashing me. I kept on pleading with them but instead Khem Singh's son Vishal also joined in and thrashed me with rods and kept on beating me," said Harshit.

He somehow managed to inform his uncle who came and informed the police. The police officials reached the location and rushed him to a hospital for treatment. Harshit could not give a proper statement because of his injuries. Later on, he gave his statement to the police officials.

A case under sections of 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (whoever wrongfully restrains any person) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Bharat Nagar police station.
