Assam Congress chief MP Ripun Bora has passed a private member's resolution to make amendments in the National Anthem by replacing 'Sindh' with 'Uttar-purab (Northeast)'.
He said the northeastern states are an important part of the country, but they find no mention in the anthem.
"Our democratic ideals promise equal representation to all castes and regions, but Sindh is no longer a part of the country. Why are we still paying respect to a state that is now part of a country hostile to India," said Bora.
