Will they or won't they? The mystery around whether Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his men will call off the protest or not, kept the police personnel deployed outside Raj Niwas intrigued as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders laid siege for the second day on Tuesday. The otherwise busy roads leading to the house of the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) were devoid of any hustle bustle as cops turned the area into a fortress on Monday itself. The quiet was telling but not as much that it would camouflage the uproar that was happening at the backside of the place.

Policemen, spread evenly across a kilometre of Sham Nath Marg towards Raj Niwas, were being good Samaritans, sending people in the right directions. "You won't find anything here. You should go to the backside of Raj Niwas where the real action is happening," advised a cop, quickly dissuading as if on cue. "It is a long walk of more than 2 km. Four wheelers are not allowed," he said.

"We heard there was a press conference by AAP leaders some time ago. Will they reach a common ground and go back home?," asked Satyender Powar, another policeman. Others looked on with an expression of utter boredom, but of curiosity nonetheless.

Moving towards the other end of Raj Niwas, the security cover became more stringent. More barricades, water cannons and QRT. Alert cops were telling inquisitive onlookers to mind their own business, refusing even cycle-rickshaws to ply on the road.

In a corner, few AAP workers, clad in white AAP topis proudly shielding them from the sultry sun, discussed the could and could not be of the protest. Politics, understandably, drove the conversation.

"The Centre has vicious designs and that is they are not letting us perform. When push comes to shove, one has to resort to such means. The L-G should give an audience to the CM and understand our grievances," said Gokul Verma, a party worker.
