The Noida Police have arrested two people for the murder of 26-year-old gym trainer, Sajan Bhati, from the Hazipur village of Gautam Budh Nagar.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Pradeep Bhati, Sajan's cousin, and Amir. The two were nabbed after a local tipped off the cops that they would be passing by the area late on Saturday night.

"We knew the accused would pass the Hazipur underpass, which leads to the Mahamaya flyover, around 11.45pm. We put up a trap in such a manner that they were forced to take the service lane. They even tried to flee but we overpowered them,"Ajay Kumar Singh, SHO, Sector 39, said.

The two were booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), and 302 (murder). Police have also recovered the car used in the murder, a 9mm pistol, a 32-bore pistol, and 2 live cartridges from their possession.

During interrogation, Pradeep revealed that a property dispute had led to the murder. "He revealed that the two families were embroiled in serious land dispute in the village. He claimed that Sajan's father had occupied their property and were not willing to give his family their share,"Singh said.

In the FIR, Sajan's father Gajraj Bhati had named Rishi, Satender, Shripal, Rishipal, Rinku, Nitin, and three more unidentified people, besides Pradeep, as the accused. Amir was later identified to be one of the three unidentified people in the FIR.

"I won't rest till all the people involved in killing my son are behind the bars. Police do not work until you keep pressurising them. I had filed multiple police complaints against the people who attacked Sajan earlier as well, but no action was taken,"Gajraj said.

When queried about the progress in the case, Arun Kumar Singh, SP (City), Noida, said three police teams were conducting searches at different places. "Two accused have been arrested. The rest are absconding. We have put the suspects on electronic and manual surveillance. They will be arrested soon," he said.

On Tuesday night, a group of people had gunned down Sajan outside his home in the Salarpur village.
