In the backdrop of the murder of a principal by a student in Haryana's Yamuna Nagar district, all the private schools across the national Capital will observe a "black day" on Tuesday.

Ritu Chhabra, Principal of Swami Vivekanand School in Yamuna Nagar, was shot dead by a Class XII student inside her office on Saturday. The student used his father's licenced revolver in the crime.

The Action Committee Unaided Recognized Private Schools in Delhi issued a statement asking all the schools to observe a black day. "We appeal to all the schools in Delhi to observe 'Black Day' on 30th January 2018, in protest against this sad incident. All the principals, teachers and other staff are requested to tie black bands on their arms and demonstrate solidarity to the cause," said SK Bhattacharya, president of the committee, in a statement.

Also, a two-minute silence will also be observed in the morning assembly at the schools to pay homage to the deceased principal. "The teachers and principals of the private schools are not safe anywhere. It's the high time that the entire fraternity should extend solidarity with the victim," said Bharat Arora, chairman, Mount Abu Public School.

Meanwhile, all the private schools across Haryana will also observe 'black day' on Tuesday. During this period, all the private schools will remain closed and hold protests at the district level.The schools will also submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
