10K people from organisations such as Patanjali Yoga Peetha, CISF, CRPF are slated to participate

The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) are all set to mark the third International Yoga Day in Connaught Place and its six radials and inner circles, Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden, and Children's Park on Wednesday. The programme, in which almost 10,000 people are slated to participate, will start at 6am and go on till 7.45 am.
Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting, Venkaiah Naidu, has been invited as the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports, Vijay Goel, and Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal and Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal will be the Guests of Honour. As the Special Guest of Honour, Member of Parliament (MP) Meenakashi Lekhi will also practise yoga at the event, NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar said.
Outlining the details of the event, Kumar said volunteers from organisations including Patanjali Yoga Peetha, Art of Living, Maa Shakti, Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vidyalaya, Dev Sanskriti University Haridwar (Gayatri Pariwar), Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Delhi Police, NDMC, CISF, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and the general public will perform yoga on the occasion. Diplomats will also participate in the programme at Nehru Park.
This year, Lucknow will be hosting the main event in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will participate, along with nearly 55,000 people.
Necessary arrangements for civic and basic facilities, including potable water, mobile toilet, ambulance, and first-aid desk will be available at all sites.
Other attractions will include activities performed by prominent organisations and individuals such as Yog the Band, who play Sufi music, Anveshan Society for Performing Arts, a diverse troupe with an international outlook that performs Indian contemporary dance, Surya Namaskar Shloka by Chinmayi Tripathi, known for her original and meaningful lyrics and rich composition, Shiva Panch Akshra Stotram by Carolina Prada, Bhajan performance by Art of Living, performance of Yoga and Odissi by Divyaang Students from the Association for Performing Arts and Normative Action (ALPANA), a photography event that will carry cash prizes, the Chairman added.
Public Service Undertakings (PSUs), including Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Khadi and Village Industries Corporation (KVIC), and Power Finance Corporation (PFC) have also extended their support to organise the grand event.
Extending recognition to the Indian culture and heritage, the United Nations General Assembly had declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day on December 11, 2014.
