Pregnant woman delivers baby in ambulance

A pregnant woman had to deliver her baby in an ambulance on her way to hospital due to the delay caused by the broken road condition.

The control room of the CATS ambulance received a call that a woman aged 25, Alka Devi is having contractions and needs to be moved to hospital. The nearest ambulance around her home near Rajdhani Park Metro station was sent for her.

Because of factory area, the ambulance driver had to face difficulties in locating the address. When the ambulance started moving towards hospital carrying the pregnant woman, accompanied by her husband, the driver could not drive fast enough owing to the bad road conditions. During this period, the pain of the woman increased.

Shivam Jha, the paramedic present in the ambulance asked the driver to stop the vehicle before Rajdhani Park Metro station and helped the woman deliver her child in the ambulance itself.

The driver admitted the woman and child in Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital and from the information received by the hospital, the woman gave birth to a male child. Both the woman and child are safe.
