The mother of the seven-year-old child, who was found murdered inside a toilet of the Ryan International School in Gurugram on Friday, said on Sunday that the school management and the police were “hand in glove” and were trying to shield the real culprit in the case.

While talking to DNA, Jyoti Thakur said it was possible that her son witnessed something inappropriate, which prompted the accused to eliminate him in rage. She said the police have been silent regarding this as they have not probed this angle.

Thakur further said that the school did not have CCTV cameras, which could otherwise have helped establish the sequence of events. “This is sheer negligence on part of the school administration. Many more evidences point towards the school authorities’ callousness. Still, it took the police three days to book the owners,” she said.

The family also raised questions regarding the accused conductor’s involvement. “If the child was killed by the conductor alone and the entire washroom was drenched in blood, how come he had no blood stains on his clothes? Who helped him with an extra pair of clothes?” asked Varun Kumar Thakur, the victim’s father.

Meanwhile, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda visited the family’s residence to lend support to their demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.

Earlier in the day, as violence erupted in the area when hundreds of agitated locals gathered to protest against the laxity in police probe, Thakur appealed to them to not resort to violence. Hooda also condemned the police’s decision to lathicharge, in which many locals as well as journalists were injured and their cameras were broken.
