The audacity of a van driver, who had allegedly raped a four-year-old girl, led to his arrest after he came to pick up the victim on Wednesday morning for school.

The victim's mother said that the police constables were ready at her home as the complaint had already been filed with the police. "As soon as the accused came today to take my daughter to school, a woman constable nabbed him," she told DNA.
According to the mother, the minor's undergarments were wet and she was bleeding from her private parts when she came home but they did not pay much heed to it. However, in the evening at 8 pm, when the victim started screaming in pain, she was taken to the hospital where the doctors confirmed that she was raped.
According to the police, the incident took place at 1 pm on Tuesday under Haridas Nagar police station in Outer Delhi. The girl was raped within a stretch of one kilometre from school to home.
A complaint was registered by the parents of the victim at 11 pm on the same day.
"The accused has been arrested and the van has been seized. A case has been registered under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO)," said a police officer.
Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal visited the victim at the hospital. "4 year old girl raped brutally by her school van driver. Met her in hospital. Give death penalty 2 culprit in 2 months! Give strong msg! (sic)," Maliwal wrote on Twitter.
The parents had taken the services of the van driver nearly a month back and did not know the accused properly.
"Usually, there are three-four children in the van when the driver comes to pick up my daughter. However, while returning, she would always be alone. Taking advantage of this, the accused sexually assaulted her," victim's father said.
