In an attempt to promote and motivate the children of Delhi police officers, the Police Family Welfare Society (PFWS) has decided to train them for the 2020 Olympics. The children have been undergoing training for the last two months.

To make sure the children do not lag behind in any field they will be undergoing rigorous training in not just the game but overall development. From a well trained nutritionist who is taking care of the diet of the players to the physiotherapist who is making sure none of the players sustain injuries, everything is being done for their development.

The five games include shooting, wrestling, athletics, badminton and football.

The first phase of the programme began around eleven months back. Around 538 children were screened out of which 136 children have been shortlisted.

Initially the players were screened and made aware about the Olympics Charter. They were also encouraged to dream big and game skills.

Children of police personnel who have excelled in the above chosen sport have been given training and final selections will be made on Sunday. The best in each category will be then prepared for the Olympics. Currently, the children are being coached by in house coaches and players of the Delhi police.

“The project is a noble intention and mix of passion which will yield results,” said Sushi Singh, Vice-President, PWFS Suchana Patnaik.
