In order to ensure that the orders of the apex court in connection with the cracker ban are followed, the Delhi Police held meetings and carried out drives in their respective areas to enlighten people about the increasing pollution and the cracker ban.

On the eve of Diwali in Roop Nagar area of North Delhi, police officials distributed pamphlets along with newspapers. The pamphlets once again reminded the public that crackers will only be allowed from 8 pm to 9 pm.
"For your safety and health as well as that of the people living in your locality please burst crackers at the designated places," read the pamphlet. The Delhi Police on Diwali will also carry out checks and keep a watch on people.

"Residents have been told that legal action as per law will be initiated in case they do not follow the orders of the honourable Supreme Court. Even via radio we have made announcements to enlighten them," said a senior police official.

"This time the people are themselves well aware of the situation and are doing a self-check. Moreover, the crackers are not available in the market. People are very conscious this time and are in fact even telling their children and other people not to burst crackers," said BS Vohra, Resident's Welfare Association (RWA), East Delhi.

The police officials conducted workshops with schools and RWA's. The have put up posters in major market locations asking the citizens to participate in community cracker bursting. The designated places have been assigned by the Government.
