The Delhi Police's Crime Branch has arrested two persons for transporting 6,000 bottles of liquor bottles to the recently turned dry state Bihar. The accused told the police that they would purchase bottles from Gurgaon and Delhi and then take it to Bihar via road.

The arrested have been identified as Shauufaq and Tameen. The duo were in touch with two other persons in Bihar identified as Bittu and Sonu. Crime branch team members have left for Bihar in order to arrest the kingpin.

The gang members would hide the bottles in a container and then load it onto a truck. To escape check-points they would fill the container with fruits and vegetables. When cops at check-points asked them as to what they were carrying, they would show forged bills of fruits and escape.

"The profit margin they made was huge. A bottle purchased in Delhi for Rs 400 would be later sold in Bihar for around Rs 2,000," said a senior police officer.

He added that the police have seized six thousand bottles and are identifying how many times they accused had previously visited the state. Further investigations are underway.
