Pick-pocketing gang busted in Sarita Vihar

A gang of eight members, operating in local buses of the national Capital with the motive of pickpocketing, has been arrested by the Delhi Police. The accused were arrested during a random picketing in Sarita Vihar area.

The gang used bikes to improve their chances of picking the valuable items and then running away successfully. Two bikes accompanied the bus, one from the front end and one from the rear end to make sure that gang members jumping from the bus, ran away successfully.

The gang called itself 'Company' and the pocket picking members as 'Machine', the assisting members were called 'Thek baaz'. Thek baaz would push the targets from behind and Machines were supposed to pick-pockets in that fraction of the second. "The gang also employed two bikes, so if any passenger showed resistance the member would jump off the bus and run away on the motorcycle," said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-East District.

To arrest the gang, the police team laid a trap near Aali Vihar traffic signal, Mathura Road. After confirming the identity of four members, who were boarding a bus, the team overpowered the gang members and nabbed all the four accused. "The police team laid a trap and four members of the Dalip Ganja Gang were seen boarding a bus. The police team overpowered them and apprehended gang leader Dalip alias Deepak, Shahid alias Imran, Vikash Sharma alias Pandat and Jitender Yadav.

Later on their instances, four other members namely Firoz alias Parvej, Noor Hasan, Vikki Singh and Bhim Singh were also arrested.
