PCR van rams into rickshaw, one killed

A case under IPC section 279 (rash and negligent driving), 337 (Whoever causes hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life) and 304A (causing death by negligence) has been registered at Burari police station.

A rickshaw puller was killed and a policeman injured after a Police Control Room (PCR) van rammed into a rickshaw near Hanuman Mandir on Friday night in North Delhi's Burari area. Police have not made any arrests so far.

According to police, the PCR van was patrolling near Hanuman Mandir in Hardev Nagar at around 8.30 pm. Constable Daulat Ram, who was driving the van, told police that the incident occurred because the rickshaw suddenly appeared in front of the PCR. The impact of the collision was such that the PCR overturned, while the in-charge of the PCR Assistant Sub-Inspector, Kashi Ram, was injured. The rickshaw puller, identified as Shiva, 40, died.

Kashi Ram sustained a fracture and is recuperating.

A case under IPC section 279 (rash and negligent driving), 337 (Whoever causes hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life) and 304A (causing death by negligence) has been registered at Burari police station. "We have asked the forensic science laboratory (FSL) team to re-create the scene of the crime. Further action will be taken as per the evidence," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Jatin Narwal.
