Passengers strike, snatch away car and auto from drivers

The police have booked a case of theft with injury against two unidentified persons under Section 394 of the Indian Penal Code.

In two separate incidents of robbery, an Uber cab driver was allegedly robbed of his Swift Dzire cab and a mobile phone by three unidentified people in Ecotech 1 area of Greater Noida in the wee hours of Tuesday. The miscreants had hired the cab from the IFFCO Chowk area of Gurgaon. In another incident, an auto driver was stabbed by a screw driver by unidentified assailants. The robbers fled with cash and the auto.

According to the police, the first incident took place in the Ecotech area in which the victim Yogesh, an Uber cab driver, picked up three people from IFFCO Chowk in Gurgaon around 12:45 am on Tuesday. After which the three forcefully took him to Vinod Bhati Chowk in Greater Noida and fled with his cab and phone. The police have registered a case under the relevant section and are trying to investigate the case.

In the other incident, a Delhi-based autorickshaw driver was stabbed in the stomach with a screwdriver on Monday night by two persons in Noida even as they fled with his vehicle. According to the police, the incident occurred at 9 pm when two persons had booked the victim, Gulshan Chaudhary's auto to travel from Ashok Nagar market to Mayur Vihar.

"After boarding the auto, they drew out a country-made pistol and asked Chaudhary to take the auto to Sector 11 in Noida. On reaching a secluded stretch, they asked him to deboard the auto. When Chaudhary objected, one of them stabbed him in his stomach with a screwdriver. Chaudhary fell unconscious as soon as she was stabbed and the duo threw his body at the spot and fled with the auto," said Akhilesh Tripathi, station house officer, sector 24 police station.

Locals informed the police and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. The police have booked a case of theft with injury against two unidentified persons under Section 394 of the Indian Penal Code.
