A biker died and two others were injured when their bikes collided while they were pulling off stunts in south Delhi's Qutub Institutional Area on Sunday morning.

The victim, identified as Raman, 20, was wearing a helmet but could not survive the impact of the collission that made the wheel of a bike fly metres away.

Raman's family members refuted the claim that he was doing stunts on his bike and said he used to frequent the area to ride with his friends. They claimed that the GoPro camera installed on the bike will reveal the truth.

"Raman was riding a Bajaj Dominor while Charles Brian, 27, was riding a Hyosang, and Pradeep Nair was his pillion," Chinmoy Biswas, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) said. He further said that while Brian works as an HR Manager for a firm in Gurugram, Nair has a private job.

The police was informed about the accident by a passerby at 9 am. The three were found lying on the road and were immediately taken to Rockland Hospital where Raman was declared dead on arrival while the other two were referred to AIIMS Trauma Centre.

The 20-feet road is home to several bikers as well as those who come to the area to enjoy the roadside delicacies. According to eyewitnesses, the bikes were purposely coming towards each other at a speed of over 100 kmph, may be to drift away after coming to close proximity. Laxman, owner of one of the eateries, said, "The offices around the area are shut on weekends, which leaves the road empty. The eatery near which the accident took place was shut, otherwise the bikes would have rammed in to its seating area."

A case under Section 304A (causing death due to negligence), 279 (rash driving), and 337 (causing hurt by endangering life) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered. The injured persons will be arrested once discharged from the hospital.
