After pulling up the south civic authority earlier this week, Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal is now expected to visit the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) headquarters on Thursday. Reportedly, he will also visit the Delhi Police headquarters soon.

Sources in the LG office said that during the visit, Baijal will interact with the general public and take an account of various DDA projects. The Delhi LG is the administrative head of the DDA. Sources also said that since Baijal has previously served as the DDA Vice-Chairman, he has full knowledge of the workings and shortcomings of the development agency.

"Baijal may appoint a nodal officer for DDA. He may also seek an internal report regarding the projects delayed and stuck in files," said a source at the LG office, who added that the LG is expected to discuss the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on DDA with the agency officials.

In the report tabled in the Parliament in December, the CAG had highlighted DDA's inefficiency. The report had mentioned the delay in handing over the possession of plots and projects in the national Capital to the authorities concerned. The auditing body had also raised concerns over public land used being illegally and high levels of encroachment on the DDA land.

In the report, CAG had pulled up the DDA for delays ranging from months to years in allocation of land to not only the general public but also government departments.

Meanwhile, an official said: "The LG is also likely to take into consideration the continuous confrontation between the Delhi government, and the DDA and the MCD over the allocation of land for various projects." The official further said Baijal was also expected to visit the Delhi Police headquarters in the coming week for a top-level briefing on law and order ahead of Republic Day.

Earlier this week on Sunday, Baijal had carried out an inspection of areas under the South Delhi Municipal Corporation and asked the authorities to ensure cleanliness and maintain hygienic conditions. He had also appointed SDMC Commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel as the nodal officer to coordinate with other authorities.

Baijal also sought a parking policy for Delhi from various agencies concerned to tackle the issue immediately.
