A delegation of Delhi government officers met Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha on Saturday to raise their concerns over the "deteriorating working condition" in the administrative set-up and the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash last week.

The forum of officers from various cadres — including IAS, DANICS, and DASS — met the top bureaucrat to brief him about the entire episode involving the Chief Secretary as well past incidents.

The officers apprised Sinha of the issues, including on their right to express freely divergent views, maintaining harmonious atmosphere at work place and the need to follow rules in disposal of work.

The meeting comes days after the CS was allegedly assaulted by some Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in a late night meeting called by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his Civil Lines residence on February 19.

"The Cabinet Secretary gave a patient hearing and acknowledged that they are working in a difficult environment. He assured employees of complete administrative and moral support," the officers' forum said in a statement.

However, during the meeting, Sinha told officers that "citizens must not be put to inconvenience" in the ongoing face-off.

"He told us that the interest of citizens must not be put in jeopardy and delivery of services should go on, to which all officers ensured complete dedication," the statement read.

The officers' forum maintained their stance to continue working through formal written channels of communication, and observe a peaceful silent protest of five minutes at lunchtime 1:30 pm till the political executive takes tangible action to assure them that their personal dignity and safety will be assured during meetings.

Even on Saturday, the officers and staff observed a five minutes' silence at the Delhi Secretariat.

The others who joined the delegation were AGMUT, DJB (Delhi Jal Board), doctors, engineers, planning department, worker unions and SC/ST organisations.

On Friday, Kejriwal along with his MLAs and ministers had reached LG House to ensure that the government work is not affected even as officers boycott meetings.
