The Directorate of Education (DoE) has rectified the date on its website to determine the age limit for nursery admissions in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged group (DG) categories.

Under the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section, the DoE notice had said that the minimum age of a child for admission to nursery in the EWS/DG categories should not be less than three years as on March 31, 2016, instead of March 31, 2017.

DNA, in its report published on January 15, 2017, had highlighted about the goof-up following which the education body took notice of it and corrected the date in its FAQ section.
The error had thrown the parents in a tizzy as many of them were unsure about the age.

"I was getting a lot of complaints from the EWS/DG parents about the upper age limit for nursery admissions because of this error. We are happy that the DoE acted promptly and rectified it on their website. We want the same to be done in the general category where some of the schools have set an upper age cap for the candidates," said Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.com.

According to a notification issued by the DoE, dated December 19, 2016, the minimum age for admission to nursery is three years as on March 31, 2017, but the FAQ section differed from this.
