The North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday launched an android application and a website, on which complaints regarding parking mafias and violations at parking sites can be lodged. The region has been facing problems due to parking mafias occupying several non-parking areas. Mayor (North) Preety Agarwal launched the user-friendly android application and website. “Citizens can download the application and can also register their complaints on the website,” Agarwal said.

She further said that if citizens spot any violation of rules in parking lots, they can simply select the lot listed in the application and click a photo or video as proof. “As soon as the complaint is submitted, a unique complaint number will be generated and the same will be sent to the complainant through e-mail as an acknowledgment of his complaint,” she said.

The complainants can then track the status of the complaint and action taken by Remunerative Projects (RP) Cell on the website or application. The corporation will take cognizance of the violation based on the proof uploaded and will take appropriate action, such as imposing penalty, cancellation of the parking sites’ contract, etc . “Only one penalty per violation per day is imposed as per rules,” she added.

Agarwal also pointed out that the application would be instrumental in regulating the parking lots in a better manner while citizens will also be able to get better services, especially if they are aware of violations, such as overcharging, not displaying details like rates, name and number of the contractor, on boards etc.

She said the app will empower the citizens with knowledge about parking contracts and terms of services and will also help in nailing defaulters. “Citizens can also give suggestions for improvement,” she added.
