Even after a month, the district administration has failed to take any action against Step By Step School in Sector 132, Noida, where as many as 190 kids had fallen victim to food poisoning after having lunch on the school premises on April 5. Despite the initial brouhaha over the case, the investigation seems to have slowed.

The food sample reports were expected to be out in two weeks, but it has been more than 30 days now, the administration is still waiting for the results to be out to initiate any further action.

On April 5, many students had taken ill after the food given to them at the school. They suffered from stomach ache and vomiting. Following which, the food department had collected samples of the ajwain paratha and oil used for breakfast and sent them to a Lucknow lab for testing. The reports were expected to be out in two weeks, however, after 38 days the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration are still waiting for the food sample results.

"We had hoped that the reports would be out within two weeks but testing of oil takes time and this is the only reason that the reports have not come yet. We have also written to the Lucknow lab to send the reports as soon as possible. We are hoping the reports will come by this week," said Sanjay Sharma, Food and Drug Inspector Of Gautam Budh Nagar.

According to the police, they are helpless as they are waiting for orders from the administration to further investigate the case against the school administration.

"Till we get the orders we can't initiate the probe. As of now, all depends on the sample reports," said a senior police official.

An official from the administration said that they are waiting for the reports after which strict action will be taken against school administration if found at fault.

On April 5, after the incident came to knowledge, the school's administration had prevented officials from inspecting the premises and held them at the gate for hours before letting them in. That led the district administration to lodge an FIR under Sections 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison), 341(Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) against the school management.

However, the school authorities later wrote to the district administration offering full cooperation in the investigation. They also extended their apologies for the mishap
