Noida: Jammu DM Neeraj Chauhan's baraat faces music after locals complain

A case has been registered against the father of the bride and other relatives. The permissible limit for loud music is 10 pm; the music at the venue was being played till 11 pm.

District Magistrate (DM) of Jammu Neeraj Chauhan's baraat was disrupted on Monday night after the police registered a case of loud music was played beyond the permissible limit at the wedding venur. The incident took place in sector-168 on the Expressway in Noida, and cops say some relatives also misbehaved with police officers.

A case has been registered against the father of the bride and other relatives. The permissible limit for loud music is 10 pm; the music at the venue was being played till 11 pm.

According to the police, Chauhan's wedding was hosted at an empty ground belonging to the Noida authority, opposite Shiv Nadar school. As board exams are going on, police received two or three calls from residents of the area complaining that the music was disturbing children who were studying.

Chauhan's baraat had arrived from Kathiyaar in Bihar. "After receiving the calls time and again, we reached the location but despite repeated requests, the volume was not brought down," Station House Officer (SHO) of Expressway police station, Anup Kumar Yadav said.

"Following which, action was taken against the father of the bride, Suresh Singh Chauhan and 20 others. Since it was a wedding, immediate arrests were not made, however action would be initiated against them."
A case under Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act and Sections 271 (Making atmosphere noxious to health), 291 (continuance of nuisance after injunction to discontinue) and 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered.
