Senior doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) raised concerns over non-payment of salaries and dues at par with the 7th Pay Commission. At least 10,000 employees including doctors, private secretaries and personal assistants have not received their salaries.

In a meeting held last week, they recorded on the agenda which said, "In the institute not even a single employee/officer (including officers from central government deputation except Deputy Director (Administration) V Srinivas is drawing salary as per the 7th Pay Commission."

Medicos were irked by the fact that the administration is sitting over their file, while one of the key administrator is drawing salary. What is more worrisome is that close to 200 faculty members were promoted in July last year, but their salary structures are yet be revised even as per the 6th Pay Commission scales, let alone the 7th Pay Commission, said Dr Nand Kumar, Professor, Psychiatry and General Secretary (FAIIMS).

"The difference of between Rs 30,000-Rs 50,000 per month is pending since July 2016 and is yet to be disbursed. That is a hard core responsibility of the administration. How is this fair?" said Dr Kumar.

"The officers on deputation to AIIMS from the Central Secretariat Service at the level of senior administrative officers are also drawing the 7th Central Pay Commission pay scales in AIIMS," said Srinivas. There are a total of 12 officers on deputation from the central cadres.

Within a day of DNA pointing this out to Srinivas, he responded saying that an order has finally been issued by AIIMS on January 17, 2017 adopting 7th pay scale revision for all Group employees.
