On Monday, the notorious Nithari village in Sector 31 of Noida, remained silent as a grave. Every local was glued to the television, as a CBI court pronounced death sentence for residents Moninder Singh Pandher and his domestic help Surinder Kohli. The two had been convicted for a series of gruesome rapes and murders.

When queried about the case, neighbours of the cursed house, D-5, chose silence. One of them, who requested to remain anonymous, however, said that people have started calling the house 'Khooni Kothi'. He further said that they knew the servant at Khooni Kothi used to tempt poor children into the house but what happened to them after that was a mystery for all residents for a long time.

"It was after many years that we got to know that such brutal incidents were taking place just besides our house. We got to know that they used to murder the children and even take out their internal organs, such as kidneys. The domestic help, Surinder Koli, was the one who convinced the children with toffees and toys,"he said.

Talking about the case, the then President of Sector 31 Resident Welfare Association (RWA), Satish Mishra, said:"Nobody ever doubted the preliminary investigation. Suspicion was first raised when Jaggu Lal, father of one of the victims, found blood stains on Pandher's clothes. He used to iron his clothes. It was a few days after his daughter, Jyoti, went missing."Mishra was the RWA President in 2006-07, when the duo got apprehended.

He added:"The police were not even ready to register an FIR for the missing children till all the residents protested outside the police station in December, 2006."
