The accused identified as Osaretin alias Ogbuku (35) was arrested from Kishanganj from where he was planning to flee to Assam and then to Nepal.
The Delhi Police have arrested a Nigerian national from Bihar wanted in a murder case lodged in South Delhi's Mehrauli area. The accused identified as Osaretin alias Ogbuku (35) was arrested from Kishanganj from where he was planning to flee to Assam and then to Nepal.
According to the police, Osaretin had killed another Nigerian national, Hillary, in the Chattarpur Pahari area on March 9. Osaretin told interrogators that a fight had ensued on that day between some people of his group and another group. His friend Kaubw was thrashed by them. In order to take revenge, he stepped out in search of them and found Hillary near Chattarpur.
"Osaretin first beat him up and then stabbed him in the chest before fleeing the location. We were informed about a person lying unconscious with a stab wound. We rushed him to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was declared dead on arrival," said Romil Baaniya, DCP, South.
"Osaretin said that he was going to hide in Assam to avoid being arrested. He wanted to shift to Nepal after some time and then return to his native country," Baaniya said.
The Delhi Police coordinated with the Bihar Police in order to make sure he doesn't escape.
The police zeroed in on Osaretin, who became the prime suspect in the case since he had not been at his residence since the murder. He was traced to Jalandhar in Punjab. A police team rushed there and searched his hideouts. They were told that Osaretin had hired a paid cab and left for Assam. The team verified all the cabs which left from Jalandhar towards Bihar and Assam. He was then traced and apprehended.
Osaretin came to India in 2010 and is a permanent resident of Nigeria. He operated a garment business from his house and dealt in online sale and purchase.
