A 35-year-old Nigerian national was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his rented house in the Uttam Nagar area on Friday morning. According to the police, the exact cause of death shall be confirmed after the post-mortem report is out.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Neely Emeko, who had been staying in the country for the past one year. He was currently working at a company as he had come to India last year on a business visa.
"The deceased's boss was trying to reach out to him for the past few days, however, he was not responding to the calls. On Friday, his boss came to meet Emeko at his residence and found the room was locked from inside but no one was responding," said a senior police official.
Emeko's boss knocked on the door several times but did not get any response from inside. Then, he peeped through a window and found Emeko lying unconscious on the floor.
"A police control room call was received about a man found dead in the Uttam Nagar area. A team reached the spot and found a Nigerian national dead in his flat," said the officer.
The police said Emeka's friend has said he had been ill for the past few days.
"Emeka's family members and the Nigerian High Commission have been informed about the incident. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination and the cause of death will be known after an autopsy. It is suspected that he might have died due to illness," the police official said.
