The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a 24-year-old youth Muhammad Absar from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing case of ISIS-inspired Harkut-ul-Harb-e-Islam module.

The accused Muhammad Absar, who was a teacher at Jamia Husania Abul Hassan at Hapur in Ghaziabad, was arrested on Friday evening. He had visited three places in Jammu and Kashmir in May and August 2018 along with another accused Iftekhar Sakib in connection with the terror conspiracy.

On Saturday, the agency said it has made a fresh arrest in connection with its probe against an ISIS-inspired group that had allegedly planned suicide attacks and serial blasts targeting politicians and government installations in Delhi and the national capital region.

The NIA also conducted searches at three locations in Meerut, Hapur and Ghaziabad in connection with the arrest. With the latest arrest, the NIA has nabbed 12 people so far in this connection.

On January 5, the NIA arrested a 21-year-old man named Mohammed Nayeem was arrested for supplying weapons to the module. Nayeem had supplied weapons to the 10 men arrested in the case. The agency had arrested 10 alleged Islamic State-inspired module members, including the group head Mufti Suhail for planning terror attacks. Those arrested include Suhail (29), Anas Yunus (24), Rashid Zafar Raq (23), Saeed (28), Saeed's brother Raees Ahmad, Zubair Malik (20), Zubair's brother Zaid (22), Saqib Iftekar (26), Mohammed Irshad (in 20s) and Mohammed Azam (35).

The seized items include 25 kg of explosive material, such as Potassium Nitrate, Ammonium Nitrate, Sulphur, Sugar material paste, 12 pistols, 150 rounds of live ammunition, 1 country- made rocket launcher, 112 alarm clocks, mobile phone circuits, batteries, 51 pipes, remote control car triggering switch, wireless digital doorbell for remote switch, steel containers, electric wires, 91 mobile phones, 134 SIM cards, 3 laptops, knife, sword, ISIS-related literature and a cash amount of Rs. 7.5 lakhs approximately.

The group was under surveillance for two months and once they got enough evidence to nab them, the NIA carried out simultaneous raids with the help of the anti-terror units of Delhi Police and Uttar Pradesh Police.
