Newborn dies, body found in North Delhi's Inderlok canal

A newborn was found dead inside a canal in Inderlok area of North Delhi on Saturday morning. According to the police, the control room received a call at around 9.40 am informing about the body of an infant lying in the canal in Inderlok.

“A team rushed to the spot and found a two-days-old male infant lying in the canal who was taken to Subzi Mandi mortuary,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Harendra Singh.

Police have registered a case under section 315 (preventing the child from being born alive or causing it to die after its birth) of  the Indian Penal Code at the Sarai Rohilla Police Station.

Police has initiated a probe in the matter and CCTV cameras installed in the nearby area are being checked to nab the accused. In a separate incident, a four-and-half-year-old boy died after he fell from the third floor of a house in Northeast Delhi’s Jafrabad area on Saturday morning.

“We received a police control room call around 7.30 am where the caller informed that a child fell from the window of the house in Jafrabad. Investigat ion revealed that the child was playing near the window when he accidentally fell,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Atul Thakur.

Police said that child was rushed to GTB Hospital where he succumbed during treatment. Inquest proceeding is going on, police said.
