Neighbour molests minor girl in Sarita Vihar

A three-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a 35-year-old man who resided in the same locality as her. The incident occurred in South-East Delhi's Sarita Vihar area on Thursday afternoon. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Ganori Prasad. On Thursday afternoon, a call was received around 1 pm regarding a man trying to sexually assault a minor girl. "The girl was playing in front of her house and Prasad took her to the first floor of the building where the girl resided. The accused undressed the girl and was trying to assault her when she started crying," said a senior police officer.

On hearing the minor girl cry, her aunt rushed to the first floor and raised an alarm to alert the neighbours. The woman with the help of neighbours caught hold of the accused and informed the police.

Prasad works as a security guard in Jasola. The father of the girl works as a street vendor and sells vegetables. Since both resided in the same colony, they were well aquainted with each other.          

A case under Sections 354 (intent to outrage modesty) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) has been registered at Sarita Vihar police station, he added.
