Neighbour kills security guard on suspicion of mobile theft in Central Delhi's Anand Parbat area

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Vinod Giri who was consuming alcohol with his friend(the accused).

On a mere suspicion of stealing a phone, a 50 year-old security guard was stabbed to death by his neighbour while drinking together in Anand Parbat area of Central Delhi on Saturday night. The accused is absconding at the moment and teams have been formed to nab him, police said.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Vinod Giri who was consuming alcohol with his friend(the accused).

"A man came to the police post and informed us about the matter following which a team was rushed to the spot. Allegedly the accused fled from the spot after attacking Giri with a knife in the abdomen area. We rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival," said a senior police officer.

During initial probe it came to light that on they drank together after which they ensued an argument.

"Eyewitness informed us the accused suspected Giri of stealing his phone and that ensued an argument as the phone was missing from his pocket. Following the argument he allegedly took put a knife and stabbed him before fleeing away from the spot, said a police officer.

Police have identified the accused and teams have been formed to nab him and it has also been found that the accused forgot his phone at home.
