The three-day festival will feature a rare and rich ensemble of films culled from the treasure trove of award-winning internationally renowned directors.
Iconic films from across the globe will come to the national Capital, which will host the second edition of World Classic Movie Festival from June 22 to 24, 2018 at the Siri Fort Auditorium.
The three-day festival will feature a rare and rich ensemble of films culled from the treasure trove of award-winning internationally renowned directors. Brought to Delhi by Navrasa Duende, the objective, according to organisers is to build a community of world cinema lovers and establish that classical movies can be the mainstream entertainment source.
The festival includes a collection of a vast variety of genres ranging from movies that were considered to be milestones of the neo-realistic cinema movement and also some of the blockbuster classic movies like Fiddler on the Roof by Norman Jewison; Wild Strawberries by Ingmar Bergman; Children of Paradise by Marcel Carne; Ivan’s Childhood by Andrei Tarkovsky; Gone with the Wind by Victor Fleming; Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa; Jalsaghar by Satyajit Ray; Bicycle Thieves by Vittorio De Sica; and Doctor Zhivago by David Lean.
Dinesh Singh, founder of Navrasa Duende said, “World cinema brings you closer to the world communities without prejudice, with their uncanny ability to translate pain, suffering, joy and love in the universal language of the visual medium that transcends geographical boundaries or cultural dialects. Also, there isn’t a huge interest in these movies in India and with this festival, we are trying to highlight that these classic cults can also be considered as mainstream movies. “
Bicycle Thieves revolves around a man and his son in search of the stolen bicycle; Fiddler on the Roof shows a father who deals with sustaining Jewish ideologies in his family.
